Amnesty International
Amnesty International has always been the first to respond whereever Human Rights are viloated. I was asked by Amnesty to help make the public aware that we can affect the outcome of political prisoners of concience by wrting to the leaders of countries that imprison them for their political points of view and demand their release. Our voices, from the human collective, whose hands are unbound, have the freedom to voice our disapproval on behalf of those whose hands are bound. I approached some of the most compelling photographers in the world to help create the series of images for the ‘Hands Unbound’ campaign. They responded first and foremost, because they were human beings, responding to the need of other human beings
I first worked with John at Amnesty International. His dignified “Hands Unbound” series featuring portraits of former political prisoners and refugees is timeless. I had the pleasure of working with him again on an Oxfam America campaign focused on securing the world’s first International Arms Trade Treaty. John’s soulfulness and deep love of beauty informs all his work.
