Landern Lodge
In May of 2021, I was asked by Sasha Slorer to develop an identity and voice for a new proposed luxury lodge to be built in Bozeman, Montana. Sasha, a long-time resident of NYC, came to Bozeman in the Gallatin Valley in 2016. What happened then was the confirmation of a life-long dream with a place that made it real. It was a transformational experience, in this valley where rivers flow, eventually merging to form something greater. In response to her aspirations to build a place of connection with the unparalleled surrounding beauty and each other, I realized that what she was hoping to create was a confluence of those things. The following identity, look tone and feel, are elements what that dream could look like.
A Confluence is the place where two rivers meet and become one. The name Landern itself, is confluence of names, Stella, Conrad and Erland, the children of Sasha Slorer, founder and visionary of Landern. Sasha believed that such a confluence could happen in Bozeman, Montana, between people and nature, each other, and that part of self that we may not have known existed, but discover, by simply being here. As rivers flow together to create something greater, larger and more alive, so will the lives of those who have made the journey to Landern. They will be richly altered by the experience, and hopefully, compelled to return.
The Landern identity is a confluence of the surrounding Bridger mountain range and the architectural element of The ‘L’.
John has an incredible intuitive understanding of the DNA of a brand. He can articulate what we as clients feel and believe our brand should be. His natural passion and enthusiasm for my brand went far beyond just creating a logo. Through his indepth research and insightful understanding of my brand and its uniqueness and place in the market, he not only gave the brand life, but a reason to exist and to continue to be relevant years from now. Working with him was an honor and privilege as both I and my brand were truly in safe hands.
